Internet Speed Testing
Detailed instructions for proper internet speed measurement using recommended services
Internet Speed Testing
Introduction
For accurate internet speed measurement results, we recommend using the following services:
- https://speed.cloudflare.com — provides high accuracy thanks to automatic selection of the optimal Cloudflare server
- https://yandex.com/internet — service from Yandex with proven measurement algorithms
These services provide the most accurate results thanks to proper server selection and proven measurement algorithms.
Step-by-step instructions for perfect measurement
Preparing for testing
-
Close unnecessary tabs and applications
- Close torrent clients, streams, VPN connections
- Stop downloads and program updates
- Keep only the speed test service tab open
-
Optimize your connection
- If possible, connect your computer to the router via cable (Ethernet)
- If using Wi-Fi, ensure signal stability
- Position yourself as close to the router as possible
-
Refresh the service page
- Press F5 or Ctrl+F5 for a complete page refresh
- Ensure the latest version of the test has loaded
Conducting the test
On speed.cloudflare.com:
- Open https://speed.cloudflare.com
- Click the "Start Test" button
- The server will be automatically selected optimally
- Wait for the test to complete
On Yandex Internetometer
- Open https://yandex.com/internet
- Click the "Measure" button
- Important: pay attention primarily to the "download speed" (Download)
- Wait for the test to complete
Testing recommendations
- Run the test 2-3 times at different times of day
- Use the average result from all measurements
- Take breaks between tests (5-10 minutes)
- Test at different times: morning, afternoon, and evening
What to do if speed is low on all services
Action algorithm
-
Restart your router
- Disconnect power from the router for 30 seconds
- Turn it back on and wait for full boot (2-3 minutes)
-
Check the cable
- Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected
- Try a different cable if you suspect damage
-
Try a different device
- Run the test on another computer or smartphone
- This will help determine if the issue is device-specific
-
Check the time of day
- Speed may be lower during evening hours (7:00-11:00 PM) due to network load
- Run the test in the morning for comparison
-
Check for interference
- Move away from other electronic devices
- Try changing Wi-Fi channel if using wireless connection
When to contact technical support
Contact support if:
- Speed is significantly lower than advertised on all services
- The problem occurs on different devices
- Router restart didn't help
- Speed is unstable (varies greatly throughout the day)
- All recommendations from the algorithm above have been followed
Remember: measurement accuracy depends on many factors. Use recommended services and follow the instructions to get the most reliable results.
