NS-servers management
Sometimes it is necessary to specify third-party NS servers for a domain, say, to transfer a domain from another registrar to Aéza to connect our Web Protection. Below we will tell you how to do this!
What are NS records?
NS (name server) records are records in a unified directory of domain names, thanks to which your browser understands where it should look for the IP address of the selected domain address and gets the ability to quickly and correctly display the necessary page.
By default, when purchasing domains in Aéza we automatically specify the following two NS records:
- ns1.aezadns.com (primary)
- ns2.aezadns.com (backup)
The actual number of records from other DNS hostings may differ and contain from 1 to 4 NS addresses that need to be correctly specified for domain binding. Each of them contains identical data about the specified server IP address.
You can also not specify NS records, but in this case the domain will be inactive and browsers will not be able to find out the IP address of your server
How to specify NS records for a domain?
In fact, this procedure is the same for any domain registrar and you can use this instenction to transfer a domain for WEB Protection from Aéza even for domains purchased outside our hosting. The differences will only be in the design of the pages.
To do this, go to the "Services" section:
Click on the three dots on the right side of the service and go to its page:
Then go to the "DNS Management" section:
Check the box to set custom NS servers:
Enter from 1 to 4 addresses of NS servers of the desired DNS hosting:
After confirming the changes with the "Confirm" button, the changes will take effect instantly, however the largest DNS address databases from Google, Facebook, OpenDNS, Yandex.DNS and a dozen other address directories will notice your changes only after a few hours.
Often this takes from 2 to 48 hours (in rare cases up to 72 hours)
After changing NS records, you will be able to use this domain for your own website located either in Aéza hosting and you will be able to fully use our Web Protection for your websites and services, or outside Aéza hosting addresses.
